Carnegie Longlist announced

20 books have just been longlisted for the prestigious Carnegie Medal. See the list and read reviews of the books on the Guardian children's book site. The shortlist will be announced on 18th March with the winner announced in June.

Nathan Filer wins Costa Book of the Year
Nathan Filer has won the Costa Book of the Year with his debut novel, The Shock of the Fall, about loss, guilt and mental illness. Listen to Nathan's reaction to the news of his win on this BBC clip. The book is narrated by Matthew from the age of 5 to his early 20s and is a gripping account of his descent into schizophrenia. Reserve your copy at the library.
